My job allows me to be pretty casual on most days, but I am still a sucker for a cute blazer. Even in the Houston summer, draping a blazer over your shoulders completely elevates your look. I love especially love finding cute tweed jackets that have a Chanel vibe. (Now, I just need to invest in a vintage brooch to add to all my jackets!) And, of course, I live in stripes year around. (Also, you can find a short versions of a similar look here!)

Happy 4th of July weekend, y’all! Do you have any fun plans? We are staying home for the first time since we have been together. (In Texas, we always spend the 4th at the Knapp’s lake house and in NYC we would always go out east with our friends.) But this year, it feels too intimidating to me to pack up both boys for the lake before we leave for California on Tuesday. (There is so much prep that goes into getting everything ready to leave your children for a week!) Tuesday will be the first time Fred and I are leaving both boys with family to take a vacation just the two of us. Needless to say, we are pretty excited about our upcoming getaway!

It’s no secrete that I love stripes for day, but how fun are they in a pretty midi dress?! I love the playful vibe they create for this otherwise dressy silhouette. I wore this outfit earlier this month to the speaker’s cocktail party and dinner before Create & Cultivate Dallas. The night before I left, I had panicked because I didn’t have anything to wear. So I took advantage of being friends with Hunter and went and raided the stock at her house after we had the babies down. Of course, I found something perfect that I can’t wait to carry into spring!

I just found these pictures in the archives and realized I hadn’t shared them yet on the blog. Coincidentally, yesterday was also a rainy day in Houston (the same weather we had the day we shot these pictures). This coat has probably been the best $40 I ever spent. It is such a fun pop of color for a dreary day and just the right weight for Houston. Unfortunately, my Nike’s aren’t getting much use except for running around town in outfits like this, but once we get Drew on a better schedule, I am enlisting in my sister’s help to get back into a workout routine. (For everyone who has ever ask me what my workout routine is, you are inquiring with the wrong Harper. Head over to my sister’s page for the fitness inspiration.)

For me, it is so important that I get out of the house during the day. Even if it is just to get a cup of coffee or run a quick errand. Sometimes it is 3:00pm and Knox is waking up from his nap and I realize that I am still in my pj’s! It is days like this I need to thrown on a presentable outfit, grab the boys, and head out the door… for my sanity. Luckily, I have been blessed with two really good babies who sleep and eat pretty well. In fact, I think they enjoy our little outings as much as I do. (I keep Andrew in his car seat that attaches to his stroller and we have a car seat blanket that hangs over the top to protect him from any germs, if we are in a public place. Of course, it is so important to be smart about where you take a newborn.)
This is a typical ‘mom’ outfit for me during the week. It is comfortable and effortless: flat boots, a go-to stripe t-shirt, a cape that doubles as a scarf to keep warm + a pair of coated denim to step up your style game so you don’t feel like you are wearing just any old pair of jeans.

I am trying not to complain about the heat on here too much because everyone knows Houston is brutal in July and August (but come visit us in February and you will be jealous)! But dressing for the weather is a real thing and right now, I am living in shorts and summer dresses. This is also a great travel outfit which is fitting for today’s post. 😉

This was an impromptu outfit that I mixed together when I realized it was just too cold to wear what I had packed! I loved the pieces as separates, but when I put them together it made a fun statement, as well! The good news is that there is so many ways to wear these pieces and the whole outfit is on sale right now at J.Crew! (20% off with code SHOPPINGTIME)

The best part about fashion week is reconnecting with friends that live all over the country. I typically only get to see my online friends at conferences and Fashion Weeks so I always look forward to reconnecting. I caught up with these cuties during shows and then we warmed up with the best pizza and pasta for dinner. Already miss you guys and can’t wait to do it again next time! xo

I threw on this outfit the other day after staring at my closet thinking I had nothing to wear. The jacket is a Old Navy steal (first seen here) and I wear this J.Crew stripe top at least once a week (seen here), but I had never thought to pair them together. It may seem a bit of a mix match to some, but I love the way it turned out.

Today I am channeling warmer weather and hoping mother nature follows along. If you haven’t noticed from here & here, stripes have become my new neutral. The pattern goes with practically everything, including itself.

This whole outfit is really just layering on some of my favorite basics. These jeans and this chambray shirt make an appearance on the blog about once a week it seems. The leopard pumps are a newer purchase, but since I also consider leopard a neutral, I am certain you will be seeing a lot more of them. And last, my new stripes complete the outfit.

The blazer was scored for a steal at Old Navy and the stripe tote is a new brand and concept that I can definitely get behind. Affordable and customizable handbags? Yes, please! You can pick your color, pattern and monogram to design your own bag… pretty cool!

I took these pictures on Saturday before the storm. I have gotten so much wear out of my polka dot jeans, I love finding new ways to style them. This playful weekend look of mixing stripes and polka dots might be my favorite, yet. As it gets colder outside, I plan to pair them with this cozy sweater.

Black & Blue was a major trend on the fall runways so when I saw this skirt on sale on Gilt, I knew I had to have it. I added pops of green for a playful, spring twist, but I can’t wait to transition into fall with black tights and an oversized navy sweater.

This sweater is right on trend for the ‘sequins for day’ look that is so hot this fall. Since the chunky fit of the sweater feels casual already, I pulled up my hair and added leopard heels and a matching statement necklace to spice things up. (I have tried not to say “spice up” anymore after hearing myself on Gilt TV. In my first video, I used up my lifetime supply! Cringe. But, the pretty cinnamon color in the sweater makes it seem appropriate in this post.)
This sweater is meant for a casual day outfit, but I listed some easy styling tips below to make a dressier piece suitable for brunch or the office. (See here where I used some of the tips below on a sequin skirt.)
Styling Tips:
1. Wear flats to give a more casual vibe
2. Pair with baggy fitting trousers so you don’t look like you are tying too hard.
3. Style with stripes or plaid to add a playful twist
4. Add denim to the mix with a jacket, shirt or jeans
5. Top off the look with a casual hat

Welcome to HOUSE specialty—a new series where I spotlight the brands I love most and the standout pieces that define their design DNA. Think of it as my personal edit of what each label does best: the silhouettes, fabrics, or patterns that keep me coming back season after season.
We’re kicking things off with ME+EM, a British brand that’s become a quiet staple in my closet. As a 40-year-old mom constantly toggling between errands, work, and family life, I need clothes that move with me but still feel elevated. ME+EM nails that balance and always delivers on what I like to call “polished comfort”. Their thoughtful tailoring, versatile knits, and clean-lined dresses are polished enough for meetings, but easy enough for after school activities, as well.
This spring, I’m especially loving their bold stripes, chevron textures, and crisp shirt dresses that feel fresh but grounded in practicality. These are the pieces that work hard—just like we do—and that’s exactly what House Specialty is all about.
This spring roundup features pieces that check every box: refined silhouettes, playful knits, and elevated accessories that transition from playground to dinner date while checking all the spring trend boxes, as well. Texture play, bold prints, and earthy accessories— this roundup is a nod to timeless style, reimagined for women who do it all.
If you’re a mom who wants to look put-together and stay comfortable while doing all the things— look no further than ME+EM for your new go-to shopping destination.

After over a year of helping my parents build their dream home away from home in the Texas Hill Country, I am so excited to share with you what we have been working on! Many of you follow along on Instagram and have seen a few sneak peeks as we traveled to the ranch for site visits and long family weekends, but this week I will be breaking down this already well loved space with you room by room!
For the first peek, I am sharing the exterior of the house with you as my favorite part of the ranch are the views and outdoor spaces. We enjoy coffee on the front porch every morning to watch the sunrise and cocktails on the back porch every evening to watch the epic sunsets. If you are quiet enough, deer will come up to visit while you relax and take in the views of the Texas Hill Country, my favorite Texas landscape!

This room was previously just Knox’s room, but about 6 months ago, they boys started begging to spend the night together so we would pull out Knox’s trundle bed for Andrew to sleep on. Once we realized this was more than just a phase, I decided to order an actual bed and officially make it ‘their’ room.

When the NEAT Method reached out to me about organizing the boys’ closets, I was ecstatic, to say the least! The boys are at an age where they are growing so quickly, and everything from their clothes to their toys are constantly being outgrown and replaced with new items. Of course, it’s hard to stay on top of discarding old items which means that their toy closet and clothing closet were in desperate need of an overhaul.
In case you’re not familiar with the NEAT Method, it’s a luxury home organizing company with locations across the country. They start with an in-home consultation followed by organizing and categorizing the items in the area you are focusing on, measuring and planning out the space, and then purchasing the organization products you need and installing them. My Houston rep Annie Duckworth was a dream to work with and I could not be more excited with out the project turned out! Read on below for more details about how she tackled the boys’ closets and images of the revamped space!
