READING LIST

Caroline and I decided to switch things up this weekend and feature summer must-reads instead of our usual weekend reading!

Is anyone involved in a book club? I recently started one with a few neighbors, and after years of being a lazy reader, I’m motivated again! If you’re not already a part of a group, I highly suggest starting one. It’s a great opportunity to discover books you might not read on our own, and the conversation is always great. Plus wine is usually involved! Keep reading for the books Caroline and I are most excited about this summer, but since it’s impossible to include them all, share your favorites with us in the comments at the bottom.

Modern Lovers: A smart, highly entertaining novel about a tight-knit group of friends from college— and what it means to finally grow up, well after adulthood has set in.

The Nightingale: This book claimed Best Book Of 2015 from Buzzfeed, iTunes, Library Journal, Paste, self.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Week. I’m so late with this one, but it’s my next read!  (Caroline has read it and LOVED it!)

Classic Style: A gorgeously illustrated guide to “the classics”: the essential clothes, accessories, beauty products, and timeless everyday objects that define your personal style.

Small Great Things: With richly layered characters and a gripping moral dilemma that will lead readers to question everything they know about privilege, power, and race, Small Great Things is the stunning new page-turner from Jodi Picoult.

Only Time Will Tell: The Clifton Chronicles, Book 1: the first in an ambitious new series that tells the story of one family across generations, across oceans, from heartbreak to triumph.  Caroline has also read this whole series and says it is a MUST read!  I love a good series and all the books are out now so you don’t have to wait to speed through all 5!

Three Junes: An astonishing first novel that traces the lives of a Scottish family over a decade as they confront the joys and longings, fulfillment and betrayals of love in all its guises.

Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy: A powerful, inspiring, and practical book about building resilience and moving forward after life’s inevitable setbacks from Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant.

The Identicals: This book about twin sisters was released only last week but already generating buzz!

Hillbilly Elegy: From a former marine and Yale Law School graduate, a powerful account of growing up in a poor Rust Belt town that offers a broader, probing look at the struggles of America’s white working class. I’d say this is an essential read for everyone!

The Tea Girl Of Hummingbird Way: A thrilling new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa See explores the lives of a Chinese mother and her daughter who has been adopted by an American couple.

*Honorable Mention* The Kind Worth Killing: I remembered about this one as I was finishing up this post. If you’re into thrillers, you’ll love this one. I finished it in two days!

There are also a lot of great sales leading up to 4th of July!  Shop now and get your outfit and new swim suit for next weekend!
