I celebrated a big birthday in February and, although I am a little late, I wanted to share the details. FMK hosted the celebration for me at Brooklyn Winery. They have the cutest private rooms and handle all the set up, decorations, food and drinks… what more could a husband ask for?!
Because a lot of our friends have babies, we decided to have appetizers and wine in the afternoon (3-6pm) so people could stop by before their dinner plans or before their babies’ bedtime. Although it was an exceptionally snowy day, so many of our sweet friends braved the cold and made it to Brooklyn to celebrate this milestone birthday with me.
Being a new mom, having a loving husband to put this all together for me, celebrating with friends who will brave the snow just to be there to share a glass of wine on my birthday, knowing my family and friends back home in Texas were thinking of me because my phone kept buzzing with sweet birthday wishes from familiar voices… all left me feeling extremely blessed.
In my 30’s, my goal is to be more intentional. Your 20’s (for some) is a rather selfish decade. I thought a lot about myself and what it was I wanted. What do I want to be when I grown up? What do I want to do this weekend? What do I want to buy myself with this year’s bonus? etc, etc.
Maybe it is getting older or maybe it is being a mom and realizing life isn’t all about me, but this birthday has made me want to be a better person. A stronger Christian. A better wife. A better daughter and sister. A better friend. To spend more time putting my faith in God and less time worrying about things out of my control.
So, here’s to focusing on the things in life that really matter and letting the rest fall into place.

Happy belated birthday Caroline! You are such a beauty and your intentions, as you turn 30, are equally lovely. I’m turning 30 in November and I’ve definitely noticed a similar shift in my focus and priorities as I approach this new chapter. Wishing you a wonderful year!
Hi Carli, thanks for your sweet note. Cheers to our 30’s! 🙂
I have been following your blog for a couple of years now and was always wondering how old you were (being a bit curious I know) and I can not believe you are 30 … I always said to myself ‘she is 25/26 top’ 🙂 Such a sweet birthday celebration! Our husbands are the bests aren’t they 🙂
Take care,
Sylvia
Hi Sylvia! Thanks for following along. And thank you for thinking I was 25! 😉
Your 30s will be the best. There’s so much more confidence and faith in yourself that just comes with experience and daily life. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I’ve enjoyed mine!
Cheers!
Thank you! I am looking forward to this new decade! 😉
I’ve only just recently started following your blog, but it has been such a refreshing break in my day! I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. What a beautiful post on turning 30, your friends and family are blessed to have you in their lives. Take full advantage of being in the city while you can! This suburbian is jealous 😉
