KNOX’S BIG BOY ROOM MINI MAKEOVER WITH STAINMASTER Signature Squares

We recently made the big switch and transitioned Knox’s room from a nursery to big boy room. Although this came before I was ready (You may remember me worrying on Instagram about Knox crawling out of his crib.), it has been so fun to watch Knox get excited about his new room! When we passed the crib and glider on to baby brother’s nursery,  this freed up some space to bring in some of Knox’s new birthday toys to complete his room – and inspired a mini redesign project.  I had recently switched out some of his red accents for a new orange lamp and pillows so his navy and red striped rug no longer matched the room.  You can imagine my excitement when STAINMASTER®, reached out wanting us to test their new Signature Squares™… I already had the perfect room in mind!

There are a few awesome benefits to to STAINMASTER® Signature Squares™, but perhaps the most obvious with children is that they are made with durable, stain-resistant fibers that are easy to keep clean.  And in the event of a major stain, it is easy to wash or replace a single tile.

My other favorite benefit is more from a design perspective, I love how versatile they are!  You can literally create any design you want by mixing colors, patterns or by just creating a unique layout to fit your personal space!  And let’s talk about how easy they are to assemble! I literally did it by myself while Knox was playing next to me and FMK was at work.  I love that there isn’t a giant 9×12 rug to lug from one room to another or worry about rolling out straight.  STAINMASTER® Signature Squares™ offer you the opportunity to really break the rules of decorating with rugs – they are “rugs without rules”!  I just secured one square at a time making sure they were an equal distance from the wall with each square.  This ensured a simple and straight layout that we love!

Since we spend a lot of time on the floor in this room, comfort is also a major priority.  Knox got a tepee for his birthday and he loves curling up inside to read books.  With our old rug, I would lay a blanket down for us to cuddle on, but with the STAINMASTER® Signature Squares™ we can snuggle up directly on the plush and comfortable squares.

Our old rug would always get stuck when we pulled the trundle-bed in or out so when I laid the carpet tiles, I made sure to secure them to the floor and didn’t put any additional squares under the bed.  It so nice to be able to pull the trundle in and out now without have to re-adjust the entire rug!  Such an easy solution to our old problem!

I am so happy with our STAINMASTER® Signature Squares™!  I love how the alternating color combination really completed the design concept of Knox’s new big boy room, but what I truly love is the quality and durability of the squares.  I am confident they will withstand all the challenges a two year-old boy will throw at it, and I love that I didn’t have to sacrifice style or function with our flooring choice.
