It’s officially summer and it is officially HOT! This time of year I find the lightest weight dresses in my closet and keep them on rotate. Knox was sweating when we were playing at the park on Monday and I couldn’t help but think he has a rude awakening coming if he thinks 90 degrees with a breeze is hot… I guess we didn’t have the best timing scheduling a move to Houston, Texas in late July. (Sorry little buddy!)
Speaking of the move, all the moving parts (literally) and the unknown is starting to get to me. I have become more of a home body than I probably like to admit in my old age and the thought of not having a permanent place to call home when we arrive in Houston will be hard for me. Especially now that I am working from home. We are finally locking down the exact move date, scheduling the movers and booking our flights this week. Once we get there we will have to buy two cars (any suggestions?) and start the home search (yikes!). Deep breaths…

Little White Dresses:
Love the dress! Check out the Heights area for homes, we lived in that area of Houston and loved it – lots of young families, restaurants and close to downtown! We also have a school that our son went to from 4 months – 18 months (when we moved away) that we highly recommend, if you’re interested! xo Nina
For cars, I recommend you look into at least one SUV. I’ve heard good things about River Oaks Chrysler Jeep and Westside Lexus.
For homes, I recommend looking into theTangelwood neighborhood. I think you will like the area and how family-friendly it is.
Not gonna lie… It’s pretty darn miserable in Houston already! But we’ve been having nice little afternoon rain showers that make it a little less brutal 🙂 buy a house with a pool and Knox will be a happy kid!
Oh, also, I’m guessing you’re familiar with neighborhoods in Houston since you’re from Texas… There is a secret Facebook group called memorial information trading and people often post house listings before they are added to the MLS! Lots of great resources all around. You have to be added to it by a member (I’m one, if you’re interested!).
I really love your dress, it’s so beautiful and that open back is just perfect! Congratulations on the move, that’s so exciting!

I love how you kept this look simple and classic. Your sandals and tote are the perfect accessories!

Congratulations on the move! As far as cars I’ve always been in love with Volvos. They are honestly the safest car and super cute too! My Volvo S40 definitely saved me from getting in accidents once or twice.
Absolutely gorgeous dress and you look so sweet 🙂 Great outfit!

You look presh! I don’t know anything about Houston. Now, I do LOVE my Lexus GX! Hopefully the perfect home will be found soon!!
We just caved and bought a car. It’s so necessary with a little one. We got the Honda CRV and love it!
i’ve been really pleased with the sales + service at westside lexus. and i agree with caroline, you definitely need to be on memorial information trading! i never felt safe living in the heights, but it is a popular area. and just remember, LOTS of people are moving to houston, so as hard as it is, try to be patient about finding that perfect house. it’s out there! good luck!
I just went through a big move myself (NYC to Chicago), and I can totally relate to freaking out about the unknown. It’s SO difficult. I like having a concrete plan–and knowing what to expect–and moving from one major city to another doesn’t exactly allow for that. The one idea I came back to time and time again was family. Home isn’t a place–it’s who you’re with. 🙂 As long as you have your husband and adorable baby, I’m sure you’ll be happy!! Best of luck–can’t wait to read about your new journey!!
xx

Whenever we move back to Houston, I told my husband that I want to move to either Old Braeswood or back to Westheimer in the River Oaks area. Great schools and great neighborhoods.
