{Sweater: Oscar de la Renta, Jeans: Rock & Republic, Boots: Zara, Handbag: Balenciaga}
Everyone has something that they love, something that makes them tick, a passion, or a hobby that makes them happy. For me, as sad as it may sound to some, it is fashion. And when I can swing it, high-end fashion.
My first job out of college was as an Assistant Buyer in Fine Apparel for Neiman Marcus. During those years, I had the opportunity to purchase things that I would never be able to afford otherwise (hence my handbag collection). My first piece of designer clothing was this beautiful Oscar de la Renta cashmere sweater with Merino shearling. It is from the fall ’07 collection, but I still wear it proud. Proof that clothes truly can be an investment.
Do you remember your first big girl purchase (even if it was purchased for a bargain at a sample sale like mine)?
I think my first really “big” (read expensive to me, at least at the time) purchase was my first pair of Born boots. It was a bit of a reach but now I am such a HUGE devotee of the brand. They are the best boots I have ever owned. Sharp. Comfortable. What more could you ask?
Oh, one of my passions is fashion as well. Some say i am a little too concerned about it. You are hardly alone.
BTW… jealous. Do you still work for Neiman’s?

Great purchase! Good boots can last forever. No longer with NM, I am now at Gilt Groupe. 🙂
Absolutely! 🙂 I can’t remember if I bought a prada purse or a burberry jacket first but I STILL have both and wear them all the time and I bought them almost 6 years ago! 🙂 Classics! 🙂
excuse me. . . prada handbag! 🙂
You remind me of Blair Waldorf in the first photo – great timeless sweater. The first (and so far only) thing I ever big-time splurged on was the Vince scuba leather jacket. I wear it to death!
Thank you, I am a GG fan. 🙂 also love Vince! 🙂
I certainly do – I bought a tiny logo-emblazoned Fendi baguette. I still have it and carry it to this day. I bought it majorly on sale in Paris when I was 17.
Wow, great purchase! Totally worth the $!
Definitely! A Nanette Lepore velvet blazer.. it’s definitely an investment piece, and so classic I can wear it still, 4 years later!
Those are the best! I love blazers in every kind!
Everyone always remembers their first “piece” – mine was a LV Speedy – I bought it all by myself by saving $$ for months!
Still such a great bag! Love those!
wonderful look. the jacket is amazing!
