I wore this outfit (with these boots) on Friday when Drew and I headed to Dallas for the Create & Cultivate conference (seen on instagram). If I had to have a uniform, I think this would be it. That being said, if you are wanting to start investing in classic staples for your wardrobe, here is a great place to start…
In my opinion, there are three key points to the perfect white blouse. It should be tailored, not boxy. It should be the right length, a few inches below the hips. And, it should be ‘no-iron’ material so it is ready to wear straight out of the dryer. (Because who has time for ironing?!) My all time favorite white blouse was from Jones New York, randomly, but I can’t find it anymore. J.Crew has some great options for a great value.
I pretty much live in denim in the winter months now and a good pair of distressed skinnies are my current favorite style. They are still feminine and flattering, but the distressed knee adds a little fun and edge. Plus, they are perfect to pair with flat booties or a feminine heel.
If you follow me on snapchat (houseofharper) you saw my debate while shopping for a perfect everyday bag. I decided on the Celine belt back and I have been so pleased with it (available in stores at Neiman Marcus)! You obviously don’t have to invest in a designer bag, just find a great classic style that meets your needs. (J.Crew + Tory Burch have great, more affordable options.)
I also finally invested in a good pair of nude heels. I did my research and tried on several brands. The Prada pump was the best shade of nude (not too dark for my skin tone), the perfect heel height and showed just the right amount of toe cleavage (because that’s a real thing).
I bought this trench coat when living in NYC for the spring and fall months, but it has become the perfect winter coat in Houston. Especially on rainy days! When I layer it over my shoulders I feel like it adds an instant among of chicness.
For fun statement necklaces to dress up your basics, I always turn to BaubleBar. They have the best selection and prices and everything always looks more expensive than it actually is.
