It was only two years ago we brought Knox home from the NICU and we were so scared and nervous about pretty much everything as new parents. I constantly worried about how much weight he was gaining and if he was getting enough milk via breast-feeding. Fast forward two years later, there is a new invention that has eased all these worries had the first time around.
When Hatch Baby reached out after Andrew was born to introduce their new product, this revolutionary changing table, I couldn’t get my hands on one fast enough. This product literally takes the guessing (and paper logging) out of bringing home a new baby!
My favorite feature is the scale. I love having the peace of mind that Andrew is growing and hitting new milestones without having to expose a newborn to all the germs at a doctor’s office. I use to get so excited for doctors appointments to hear his weight, but now I can weigh him when I want… down to a fraction of an ounce! This is also extremely helpful for breast-feeding (since you never really know how much they are getting each feeding). I change Andrew’s diaper and weigh him before and after breast-feeding so I can gauge how many ounces per feeding he is getting. Every time I do it, I can’t help but think of all the worry I had with Knox and ask myself where was this product two years ago! ha!
Other important features include logging diapers (wet, dirty or both), tracking sleep patterns, logging feedings (time, duration and side), and measuring length.
Equally important, you don’t have to physically be at the changing table to log your data, there is an App that syncs your smart phone (iPhone & Android) with your changing table! Other care takers can also download the App to easily share your information with a spouse, nanny or doctor. This is also great for accessing information on the go, logging feedings from a different locations, etc. (Even if you don’t have the changing table, it is a great free App to have for tracking sleep, feedings, and diapers!)
This may sound superficial, but you put so much love and care into designing a beautiful nursery for your baby, you don’t want to add something that is an eyesore every time you walk into the room. With this product, you don’t have to sacrifice form for function. The design is sleek and modern vs. the bulky eye sore of a traditional baby scale. The changing pad on top is soft and comes in several colors (ours is sky) to suit any nursery theme.

Love this! I wish they had it when I had little ones!
Hi!
Love the rug in this nursery! Can you tell me where it’s from? I’m having a little boy in April and this rug would be perfect for his nursery!
Thanks!
Callie
Yes, it is Restoration Hardware Baby. I will do a full nursery reveal once I get it completed. 😉
Can you tell me where you purchased the alphabet print I’ve seen in this nursery? Picture was actually in another post!
Yes, it is from Restoration Hardware baby. 😉
Being able to dispense with the anxiety about how much the baby ate, weighs, and is growing is a godsend. The app is fantastic. I can actually track our baby’s growth between doctor visits.
Thanks, Hatch..
I love the giraffe stool for Knox, allowing him to help you change and monitor Andrew!

What an amazing and practical tool! Thanks for sharing – I hope to use one of these for my next baby!
My baby is 8 months old. She solely breastfeeds. She will not take a bottle. Is her age too old for the scale?
No, she could still be weighed on the scale. 😉
I am an RN IBCLC working everyday to increase the rate of mom’s reaching thier breastfeeding goals. I am so disappointed that you didn’t mention the need to seek lactation specialist support on your shark tank interview,I would like to know your level of knowledge in breastfeeding to make the claims you did.
Hi Catherine,
I wasn’t on shark tank and I actually missed the episode. I breastfed Knox until he was almost 11 months and I hope to make it as long with Andrew. I personally think this is a great tool for BF mom’s peace of mind. Good for you for helping mamas reach their goals – I am so grateful for the help I received when learning to nurse with Knox.
All the best,
Caroline
I can see first time moms using this for the first few months until their babies start eating solid foods. Really though I’d rather buy an accurate bathroom scale or kitchen scale and use the hundreds I’d save on more important things.
Hi Kara! It may not be for everyone, but for some the $199 is completely worth the peace of mind when you bring home an infant from the hospital. I personally have loved having it for Andrew and I really would have loved it bringing Knox home from the Nicu where I was use to getting those daily weight checks. Being a first time mom is so scary! I literally would make doctors appointment between Knox’s well checks just to make sure he growing at a healthy rate. Nursing can make you crazy if you let it – the never knowing if they are getting enough. I had friends who would pump and bottle feed just for the peace of mind to know how many oz. their baby was getting. There is certainly no right or wrong way, but I love that their is a product out there that give you a great option if you need or want it.
I love the idea of the product and plan to look into it for my third daughter who is on her way. I also love the dresser in the pictures. Can you share where it is from? Thanks!

My daughter bought this before our precious baby grand daughter was born 6 days ago. She weighed a whopping 9 lbs 4 oz! The Hatch Baby is beautiful and she really likes the idea. However, every time she puts her on the scale it has a different weight.. By a number of ounces! How did you find the accuracy of your Hatch Baby? We are thinking that this one has a defect.
Where did you buy the hutch that the changing pad is on? It’s beautiful! Thanks,
Hatchbay: silly. Lead painted furniture: not silly.
