There aren’t adequate words for what Houston endured last week from Hurricane Harvey, but we are not a city that sits back and takes it without a fight. And I have never seen a fight quite like what Houstonians, Texans and friends across the country put up in the last nine days. As our city’s efforts shift to focus on recovery, we are working to get back on a normal posting schedule here at HOUSE of HARPER, as well. But please know, just because we strive to bring you a smile through lighter topics like fashion and beauty, this certainly does not mean that we are not continuing our efforts behind the scenes to do our part for our beloved city. This week is only the beginning of a long road a head for Houston, and if you haven’t already, please considered donating to one of these causes or supporting a local brand with proceeds that give back to Hurricane Harvey relief.
So without further a do, a new post and an exciting announcement…

This week is a big week for the fashion industry and for New York City. For many, the week after Labor Day kicks off New York Fashion Week, a time for designers to showcase their spring collections and finally share their work with the world. It is a time we get a peek at the trends to come and potentially discover a new favorite designer. As Carrie Bradshaw put it,
“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… This is known as Fashion Week…”
Although Fashion Week has changed so much since I first moved to New York City and worked as a buyer (in 2011! I’m showing my age!), it is still an important week for the industry. We will be following along from Houston this year, but we are SO EXCITED to finally launch our highly requested, much-anticipated… New York City Guide for everyone making the trip. With the help of the team (also a former New Yorker), we pulled together all the best of the city from hotels and restaurants to sight-seeing and museums! Please share with your friends and let us know where you went! xo
