The boys will be out of school soon and I am excited to get them out and having fun around town to get in the Christmas spirit! We’ll be celebrating the season by checking out all of the holiday festivities around Houston! From Zoo Lights to ice skating, there are lots of festive activities for the whole family. We are sharing 8 local festivities that are on our radar — a couple are happening this weekend so be sure to read details below!
The Annie Cafe & Bar Breakfast & Photos with Santa
The Annie Cafe & Bar is hosting a breakfast with Santa this Saturday, December 14th from 9am-2pm. The breakfast will feature a prix-fixe menu, hot chocolate and cider bars, specialty cocktails, and of course- pictures with Santa! Reservations are required.
Christmas at Dewberry Farm
From now through December 29th, Dewberry Farm has been transformed into a whimsical Christmas village with decorations, food, and activities for the entire family. Go for a fun filled day or for a magical night! Activities start at 10am on Saturday and 11am Sunday and the Trail of Lights opens at 4pm!
Hand Painted Gifts at The Mad Potter
An afternoon at The Mad Potter is the perfect way to let the kids express their creativity while making one of a kind gifts at the same time!
Houston Zoo Lights
Every holiday season the Houston Zoo transforms into a spectacular holiday light display and it’s a must-visit for both kids and adults! Kids will love the larger-than-life decorations, giant Christmas tree, and holiday train. The holiday display and festivities run until January 12th.
The Houston Ballet Nutcracker
Seeing the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker performance at the Wortham Theater is always a magical night out. This year it’s showing through December 29th. This classic Christmas tale is a crowd pleaser for the kiddos, and also makes a fun date night.
Light Viewing Around River Oaks
Some of the most spectacularly decorated homes in the city can be found in the beautiful, historic River Oaks neighborhood around the holidays. Load up the entire family into the car with hot chocolates in tow and spend an evening singing carols while looking at some of the most impressive holiday light displays the city has to offer.
Ice Skating + Activities at Discover Green
Discovery Green is the ultimate source of endless holiday activities this season! In addition to a number of other kid-friendly holiday activities and contests, Discovery Green also boasts the largest ice rink in the Southwest, available to the public through February 2, 2020.
Snowfall at the Square
Every Houstonian knows that Memorial City Mall comes to life around the holidays. The shopping center is providing the ultimate holiday experience with daily snowfall in The Square from noon to 1pm. Take the kiddos to this local winter wonderland so they can at least pretend like it’s snowing outside!
