I am so excited to share our first room reveal in the new house! I don’t know what it says about me that the first room I completed was my office? Maybe that I was so excited to have a real place to work after being displaced for so long or maybe that it simply all just fell into place after I inherited these orange vintage chairs from my grandparents. (The latter, I am sure.)
This room is just off our kitchen. The previous owners used it as a dining room, but since we opened up the wall between the old “formal living room” and “den”, we decided to go with a more open concept layout for our living / dinning room (more on that later). We added the French doors to give the office more privacy, but I love the visual effect, as well!
The pink rug was actually the first thing I ordered for the space. I didn’t know what else would go with it. But I knew it was the only place I would be able to use it since I am a little outnumbered by the boys around here.
The leucite nesting tables and desk chair are perfect for the small space because they don’t take up any visual space.
How awesome is this clothing rack designed by Emily & Merritt for Pottery Barn Teen?! (Yes, I shop at PBT.)
The stunning vintage orange velvet chairs were passed down to me from my grandparents. They couldn’t be more perfect since they are in my signature color, but the best part is that I get to be reminded of them every day.
Finding a love seat that was the feminine style I was searching for, but also small enough to fit my little space proved to be a challenge. I was so excited when I stumbled upon this one in Pier1, I talked the manager into letting me take home the floor sample for our photo shoot! (Typically you have to order it.) We were meant to be!
You may remember this bookcase, desk & filing cabinet from our New York apartment. They served me well and I am still in love with them so they obviously made the move with us.
How cute is this illustration by Rongrong DeVoe? She sketched my outfit for the Houston’s It Girl of Instagram party at Neiman Marcus. I am still trying to decide where to put her…
The French doors are my favorite update we made to the house before moving in. They were such an elegant + functional decision! I found these amazing velcro curtains on Etsy that I can hang from the inside when I need privacy and simple pull them off when I want to show off the pretty doors. Genius!
I recently (after the shoot) swapped the door knobs for the more traditional antique brass French door handles.
Would you believe me if I told you my parents actually had this light fixture removed from a house they were flipping? I took it to a local chandelier shop who cleaned and rewired it for me (for $30!). Now it is my second most prized possession in the room. I still can’t believe how it was the perfect finishing touch! Best $30 ever spent.
Speaking of finishing touches. As I mentioned, the rug was the first thing I purchased for the room. Then, I inherited the amazing orange chairs. At first, I thought they might be too much together, but I loved them both so much, I couldn’t part with either of them. I knew I would need the wall art to tie the colors together. Thanks to the rec by my manager, Lily, I reached out to Anna of AEU Studios to commission these painting for me. I could not be happier! It is amazing how hanging them on the wall made everything else make sense.
Since I use the office for meetings, I brought my bar cart in to be able to serve coffee and tea for my guest. But on most days, it’s my own personal little kitchen when I am trying to knock out a few hours of work.
I hope you love it as much as I do! The beautiful space really serves as a place for me to stay inspired and to hopefully bring you the beautiful content you come here searching for. See below for all product details, but if I left anything out, just shoot me a question in the comment section, and I will update for everyone. 😉

Long time reader, first time commenter! I love the office, and I am so glad you decided to leave the chairs orange! I think I remember reading that you were considering having them reupholstered in navy or dark green, and though they would have looked beautiful that way, I think the orange really shows their vintage character.
Thanks for being a loyal reader and for your comment! I am so glad I kept them in their original state, too. And yes, you are correct! I considered reupholstering them for our living room. 😉
This space is so fun and vibrant- definitely going to furnish a lot of creativity!! Give me the deets of that skirt- so fun!

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the orange color scheme going on. Super cute and stylish space.
Wow! It’s beautiful Caroline! I love the pink and orange together. I usually stick with neutrals even though I love color in fear that my room will end up looking like a bowl of fruity pebbles. Omg…that chandelier! Too bad I live in Austin…so hard to find great pieces like that anymore (every thrifts them SO fast). I used to live in Abilene, and I found the best vintage finds there. I should probably take a trip up there and bring a trailer with me ; )
Can’t wait to see the rest of your home!

Hi Caroline!
I love the Emily & Merritt Rack! I don’t have a closet in my room and have been looking for a pretty AND functional clothing rack to hang my clothing. Would you say the rack is sturdy and isn’t at risk of constantly falling apart? All 30 inches of the hanging space would be utilized! I appreciate any help you can provide!
Hi Jessica!
It is definitely well made a sturdy! I can’t say I have loaded it down yet, but I can’t imagine that would be a problem. The only thing that might be annoying is that you can’t adjust the height like you can on the ones from Container Store.
Good luck!
