Andrew is officially ONE and I honestly can’t believe I am actually typing those words. Somehow with number two everything just flies by at warp speed, and I worry that I didn’t have enough time to stop and savor every milestone and snuggle like I did the first time around. But at the same time, in a wierd way, I was actually able to enjoy the process more as the new, confident, more laid back version of my first-time mom self.
I often wonder about nature vs. nurture when you hear things like birth-order personalities, but I can honestly say Andrew was born a happy, laid back baby. I remember trying to get Knox to smile for the monthly pictures and he would just look at me like I was crazy. With Andrew I could simply smile at him and say his name and he will burst into his adorable and contagious giggle. I live for that giggle. And that smile.
Now his laid back and down right tough nature is most likely more nurture as he was born into a circumstance where his two-year-old brother is typically climbing on him, rolling over him, and giving him a little ‘nudge’ when he feels it is needed (insert eye roll here). I often catch myself scolding Knox for not being “gentle” and then realize Andrew is actually laughing at his ‘tickles’.
It is true what they say about your heart expanding with every child, just when you think you can’t possibly love anyone else as much, you do. Andrew has had the sweetest nature from the begining. He is the best snuggler, even at one year old, and I hope he never gets too old for those sweet cuddles. His laugh is contagious, and I love that he isn’t afraid to share it with the world. Andrew, we love you more than you can imagine. You light up our lives and have since we first laid eyes on you. We can’t wait to watch you grow up and see the man you will one day become. Being your mommy is the greatest gift. We love you to the moon and back!
Since Andrew’s birthday is in December, we decided to do a winter ONEderland theme, but when I actually started planning the details it took on more of a lumberjack theme… whatever you want to call it, it was perfect! I love that decorating the house for Christmas worked double for the birthday party.
I couldn’t find the perfect buffalo check table runner I was searching for so this is actually just some wrapping paper I had taped to our table.
We stuck to the winter theme for fun treats for the kids… I’m sure all the moms appreciate the abundance of sugar filled options. (Sorry!)
The ‘don’t feed the bears’ (teddy grahams) and ‘trail mix’ were so easy and huge hits!
I also couldn’t find a buffalo check banner in time so Isa and I got crafty with the same wrapping paper and burlap + stickers from Michael’s.
The big kids got to decorate Christmas cookies. Due to rain, we had to move the party into the garage.
You can tell Knox was really into celebrating someone else’s birthday. ๐
Cakes and cookies by the talented Peace, Love Cakes! I love working with so many talented people from my hometown! (The white smash cakes was egg free for Andrew!)
The big kids having some fun with the props / they have no idea what they are doing. ha ha!
Family photo booth fun!
I mean, I just want to eat him up! Love this ONE year-old so!
I’ve known these girls since I was probably Knox’s age, crazy to think! I love that we are all in Houston!
Of course, big brother had to help blow out the candles, but Andrew didn’t miss a beat and dove right in! One taste and he realized what he’s been missing for the last year!

Wow. This is so cute and lovely. I just loved each and everything you arranged here. Really the best to give a baby. Keep up the good work. God bless you and your family ๐
I’ve so enjoyed watching your snaps in the past, with Drew and Knox. I especially adore the little man’s laughter. So infectious ๐ and his ears are so Faun-like!!!
ha ha! I had to google Faun! His laugh is the absolute best!
