I purchased this armoire when I was just out of college and living in Dallas. Honestly, I purchased it more because it was in my budget than because I truly loved it. But somehow, seven years later, it is still with me. I recently thought about selling it, but the truth is, it is really great storage. It helped our marriage survive NYC apartments when the closet space was more than lacking. Now that we are back in Texas, I am using it to house all my handbags and accessories.
When Farrow and Ball approached me about the #stylemywardrobe challenge, I knew my wardrobe could become what I wanted – it just needed a facelift! Farrow & Ball’s new line of papers just launched this February and they are all inspired by nineteenth and twentieth century French fashion so what better backdrop for my accessories?! Their wallpapers are hands down, the best! Each paper is unique, created using their own paints traditionally trough or block printed onto ground papers to give them an extraordinary texture and appearance. I chose this beautiful paisley grey print to keep it neutral enough to go in a nursery or guest bedroom one day if we ever decide to rearrange, but special enough to really make a statement. I couldn’t be happier with the beautiful outcome!
I also painted the natural wood a French grey to compliment the paper, but I think we can all agree the real statement maker is the wallpaper! Just like an outfit, the accessories complete the look and in this case, the wallpaper is the it handbag!
This project isn’t limited to a bedroom armoire. It looks great in your closet or even inside your china cabinet in your dining room.
