Being first time parents, FMK and I are taking this holiday season by storm. We want to give Knox every experience New York City and the Christmas season have to offer. Since Knox is too young to remember his first Christmas, I have partnered with Nikon to make sure we capture every memory.
We kicked off the season at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Our friends were kind enough to invite us along to view the parade with them from an office building across the street. It was the perfect way to experience the festivities with a newborn – above the crowd and in a heated building that served hot coffee (the coffee for FMK & me).
Our little family watching the parade on Thanksgiving Day.
^^^Can you believe the parade pictures were taken from inside a building across the street? I can’t believe all the details that came out in the pictures!^^^
For us, the ‘believe’ sign is a reminder of the true reason for the season, the birth of Jesus.
The day after Thanksgiving, the three of us picked out our Christmas tree at the TriBeCa Greenmarket. This one came home with us!
Technically, Knox slept through selecting his first Christmas tree – another reason I need to document everything for him.
^^^I love how you can really see how the Nikon can capture depth in this picture. A blurry background is my favorite picture taking technique.^^^
This is our first full size Christmas tree so we had to shop the market for more ornaments to fill in some holes. I gravitated to the gold section, of course.
^^^We are so excited to capture ever little detail of Knox’s first Christmas through the lens of the Nikon D800. The quality and detail of the images are truly amazing.^^^
Knox helped me hang his ‘baby’s first Christmas’ ornament (naturally).
I am taking advantage of Knox being too young to protest window shopping on 5th Avenue. The Bergdorf Goodman windows are always my favorite!
^^^ I was amazed at how well the images came out at night! I love the reflection of the snake in the window and the contrast of the lights against the night sky.^^^
I like to think Knox appreciated the giant snake on the Bvlgari building. See little boys can have fun shopping too!
Of course, no Christmas in New York City is complete without visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
My favorite time of the day is after FMK is home from work and we are all snuggled on the sofa in our pi’s. I love reading my favorite childhood books to Knox.
^^^I captured this couple entering the Plaza Hotel since I couldn’t get a picture of FMK and me.^^^
I think it is so important to prioritize your relationship as husband and wife after having a baby. FMK and I are planning a holiday date night (hour) sipping bubbly in the champagne room at the Plaza Hotel and exchanging our gifts to each other.
***This post was brought to you by Nikon. All images were captured with the Nikon D800 camera. Thank you for supporting the brands that make HOUSE of HARPER possible. ***
Love getting this peek into your Christmas festivities, you always do such lovely lifestyle posts. Happy (almost) Xmas to you & your beautiful family!!

I love how chic you always look, especially while juggling a blog, work, and an adorable little boy! I can only aspire one day to look this elegant as a new mom (and not repeatedly wear my lazy day attire of old yoga pants and sweatshirt).
Also love that you are into photography and taking lots of your own pictures. I’m in the process of learning DLSR techniques on my new Nikon D40. My partner is a professional photographer and just upgraded from a D700 to a D800, which he absolutely loves. Do you usually shoot with a zoom lens or a prime lens?
Happy holidays!
