I paired denim on denim (first seen here) last week for a casual lunch outfit while I was in Texas. It does seem like a slightly ironic pair considering I grew up thinking this was a major fashion faux pas when I saw the cowboys doubling up around town. (Can you say Canadian tuxedo?) Well, my apologies gentlemen. You were ahead of your time.
Here are 5 easy tips to keep the look current and on trend:
1. Mix your washes! Try a lighter wash denim on top like this chambray shirt.
2. Wear a darker shade on the bottom as it is more slimming (try a dark blue or black wash).
3. Wear skinny jeans to balance the look.
4. If you don’t feel comfortable in head to toe denim, break it up with your favorite blazer or tuck in your shirt and add a belt.
5. Anchor the looks with a pair of high heels to add a contrasting feminine detail.
These boots with the cuffed jeans are so darling, love that extra touch!
Love this relaxed look! And what a great friend to let your borrow that amazing bag!

Thanks Margaret, she is an amazing friend. 😉
I don’t think you were in Waco, but that Dr. Pepper wall reminds me so much of Waco! 🙂
ha ha! No, I was in Corsicana, but close. And, I can totally see why!
A lot of people are wearing denim today! I guess I missed the memo; I’m rocking tweed! Did you settle on a new name for the blog yet?

No, I might just renew the current address. Seems like it might be too much trouble. 😉
One of my favorite classic combos– love it!
I am always so nervous to pair denim with denim – your tips are great! So going to try this soon 🙂

Happy to help! Let me know how it goes. 🙂
I love the way she styles her outfit. I could see that she do love fashion as well. In fashion, we could use our creativity too to try different fashion styles that would fit to our personality.
