One thing I have realized about owning our first home is that it is never really ‘finished’. I always have a project in the back of my mind and there is a constant wish list running through my head of little things we could do here or there to make the house feel more ‘finished’ and more like a home.
One thing I have been waiting for years to do is to find some beautiful window treatments for a few last rooms in our home. Cue The Shade Store, my favorite places to source beautiful, custom window treatments of all styles and fabrics. (Remember our Master Bedroom curtains?!) Window Treatments often get overlooked, but nothing completes a room more or makes a bigger statement than beautiful, well made window treatments.
Read on to see what I picked and how this small accessory gave the entire rooms a fresh look!
The Powder Bath
This room got the biggest makeover, you can see the before here. This was originally one of the first rooms in the house we ‘updated’ because it was in such bad shape, but after four years of living with the space it no longer felt like ‘us’ and it didn’t go with the rest of our house anymore.
I saw this Caitlin Wilson Designs wallpaper in my friend Monika Hibb’s home and had to have it for this little space. Now it flows so much better off our kitchen and living room.
With the wallpaper being a solid color, I knew we needed a fun print for the window treatment to really make a statement and complete this little space. I LOVE this blue and white Bamboo Lattice print from the Shade Store x One King’s Lane Collection! I actually had a hard time not putting this print in every room! 😉

Kitchen Window Update
When we remodeled our kitch a few years ago (full kitchen reveal here), I kept things pretty neutral with an all white kitchen with natural accents – which I still love, but my tendency to turn every room blue and white started creeping quick. First, I decided to paint the island navy (Benjamin Moore Hale Navy) and then every accessory I brought in, of course, was blue and white. Sometimes I just can’t help myself!
I have been staring at this window while doing the dishes for the last two years dreaming of giving this little focal point an update and I am so thrilled with how this one small swap made everything so much brighter and happier! The Shade Store x One Kings Lane Kaleidoscope print is the perfect print for a kitchen and i just love how it goes with our blue and white plates on the wall!

Hall Bath Update
The last room that got a mini makeover is our hall bathroom. You see me shoot in this bathroom a lot because our master bath isn’t very photogenic, but this is actually the boys bathroom / the hall bathroom.
I have kept this bathroom very gender neutral and too childish since it also serves as a hall bath that guest use. The room was looking pretty basic with the white and grey towels and shower curtain so it was begging for a pretty print on the windows!
The previous home owners who we bought the house from had all girls so the light fixtures have a pretty feminine French country vibe. I loved how the Shade Store x One King’s Lane Persian Batik print tie everything together!
Hall Bathroom Details: Curtains: The Shade Store, One Kings Lane Collection, Persian Batik in Gray | Shower Curtain: Restoration Hardware, Italian Hotel Satin Stitch Shower Curtain in Stone | Towels: Restoration Hardware, Hotel Satin Stitch Turkish Cotton Towel in Stone | Bath Mat: Restoration Hardware, Hotel Satin Stitch Turkish Cotton Bath Mat | Tray: similar here | Gold Pedestal: Longoria Collection (no longer available, similar here) | Candle: Diptyque
