To continue with our Harper Hill Country room tours, today we are sharing the living room! My goal for this room was to create a cozy space that felt lived in. I didn’t want anyone to walk in and think it felt impersonal like second homes can sometimes feel. We also wanted the inside to represent a ranch house with warm tones, leather and animal hides, but I didn’t want it to feel dated or unrefined.

I love the statement this leather round chandelier makes in the living room. It really helps define the living space from the open concept kitchen area.
My parents already owned a few antique accent tables that made for the perfect end tables on either side of the sofa and I found these oversized lamps at Pottery Barn.
I love the back of these Bassett Furniture Oxford Recliners because they don’t look like recliners, but are still so comfortable!
I found this console table at Homegoods and I sourced all the decorative items like this wooden bowl and faux flower vase from local stores Birch and Lam Bespoke. I love this view from the kitchen island!
The coffee table is reclaimed wood from Pottery Barn and the fun hide stools were found at Canterbury Court in my hometown.
This picture really shows off all the beautiful light fixtures from Circa Lighting! I truly believe that the fixtures make the room!
When all the grandkids are at the house, this perfectly styled coffee table becomes a game table covered in marbles and Sorry! ๐
To source the living room furniture, I partnered with Bassett Furniture to create the perfect custom pieces for our space. I was so impressed with their vast assortments and incredible customer service. They literally offer over a million different potential designs for basically an endless combination of sizes, arms, fabrics, cushions, legs, and trim. This may seem overwhelming, but with their knowledgeable staff, creating a piece that fits your space and style is actually very simple – and fun!
The team was so helpful with measurements, furniture layouts and the best fabrics for high traffic areas. They helped me design the furniture configuration you see here with the sofa and two sets of chairs. Our goal was to create a comfortable conversational area focused around the fireplace. And when the furniture arrived, it totally exceeded my expectations! (And the movers were not excited about how heavy the pieces were, ha!)
I selected a neutral stain resistant fabric for the sofa and a subtle plaid for the chairs. Since every ranch house (and my father) needs a leather recliner, we had to have those as well! ๐
The turnaround time on Bassetโs custom furniture is one of the most impressive parts! All custom orders are completed to your specifications and built by hand in North Carolina within 30 days!! Which is almost unheard of in the custom furniture world! And if you are like me, once you know what you want, you want it like yesterday.
Thank you Bassett Furniture for helping me design the perfect living space with quality furniture that I know my family will cherish for years to come!

Just perfect!
I absolutely love your parents home! We are in the process of planning a new home. My question is about the concrete floors. Do they have heat installed in the concrete and how do they keep them clean? Thanks!
I had the same question, TX might not need the heat but if I knew the concrete would look so good I would put it in my future home. Even looked good in the bathroom. I couldn’t figure out the color but whoever did those floors knew what they were doing at least in the pictures showed.
PS great looking house and even better looking family. Just hope old dinner bell somewhere on the property outside.
No heat installed, but it’s Texas so never been an issue. ;). Also we have rugs in all the bedrooms and living area. They are super easy to clean and don’t show dirt so we have loved them!
Please allow to share your post ! Tks
Such a lovely living room, great design. Do you happen to know the color fabric on the couch, currently shopping at Bassett and trying to decide on the fabric.
