The nautical look is a trendΒ that reappears in fashionΒ every few years, and this season it is back and stronger than ever.Β The style is a preppy, classic mix of smart solids and stripes in traditional shades of navy and red.
I took the nautical trend very literally on the last day of our vacation with a high-waist pair of red shorts and a navy and white stripe cardigan, both from H&M.Β I added a silver necklace with knotted rope details to carry the style all the way through and anchored the look with gold gladiator sandals.Β (Note: Don’t be afraid to mix metallics with silver and gold in one ensemble.)
When I get back to New York, I will wear the pieces separatelyΒ to “nod to nautical” without being so obvious.Β The cardigan will be perfect with a pair of cropped khakiΒ pants and the red shortsΒ will look great with a white blouse and navy blazer.
