The nautical look is a trend that reappears in fashion every few years, and this season it is back and stronger than ever. The style is a preppy, classic mix of smart solids and stripes in traditional shades of navy and red.
I took the nautical trend very literally on the last day of our vacation with a high-waist pair of red shorts and a navy and white stripe cardigan, both from H&M. I added a silver necklace with knotted rope details to carry the style all the way through and anchored the look with gold gladiator sandals. (Note: Don’t be afraid to mix metallics with silver and gold in one ensemble.)
When I get back to New York, I will wear the pieces separately to “nod to nautical” without being so obvious. The cardigan will be perfect with a pair of cropped khaki pants and the red shorts will look great with a white blouse and navy blazer.
Cute outfit! So ready to wear things like this… in NYC. Getting there it seems. I just discovered you’re from Houston (I think). I am too, and still like you though I went to UT. 😉
Oh how exciting to find another Texas blogger in NYC! We should definitely get together! Your blog is so cute. I am actually from the Dallas area, but my husband is from Houston. Thanks for stopping by to say hi!
