Can you believe it is Thanksgiving already?! I honestly don’t know where this year went! My baby is about to be ONE and the holidays are in full swing! Thanksgiving is actually one of my favorite holidays (second to Christmas, of course!) I LOVE that our entire family gets together (great-grandfather, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, you name it) and that we have the best food you will ever taste.
Speaking of food, I am still such a baby. I feel like I should be twelve and my grandmother and mom should be doing all the cooking, but I guess it’s time I step up and start contributing. When we lived in NYC I had an excuse because I couldn’t fly home with the food, but I think I am out of excuses. Now is as good of a time as any to start perfecting my grandmother’s recipes!
I’m obsessed with the beautiful calligraphy Meg did for the occasion. She is so talented, but I love how she kept this setting so simple to show you can do it too! After all, Thanksgiving is all about comfortable clothes, pot luck dinners and spending quality time with family at our house so the details shouldn’t be too stuffy (no pun intended) or formal.
Kristin collaborated with us on the beautiful flowers for our table and I just love the colors! The pastels make for such an understated and expected compliment to the traditional orange napkins. But the simple Magnolia leaves turned out to be the real statement makers. My parents and grandparent both have huge Magnolia trees in their yards so it also feels really personal to me to use them at each place setting. (The table looked beautiful with just the Magnolia leaves and candles if you are going for a more casual and understated look.)
You can find last year’s more formal table setting here and Knox’s first Thanksgiving in New York City here!
